(Wrote this in 2016 as well, a more traditional thing - a story with a message)
Jo and Mo were watching TV one day. A farmer was spraying something to the roots of mango trees. Mo liked mangoes, Jo liked watching mangoes. Mo couldn’t have paid less attention to what is being said, he liked mangoes that much. Jo couldn’t think about mangoes, he liked learning about farming that much.
Suddenly, Mo said - “What are they spraying?”
Jo said - “Pesticides.” and shushed him, with a finger on his lips and producing a sound of ssh.
“But why?” - Mo asked
“To keep away the pests.” - Jo said tersely.
“I think they are doing that to increase the number and size of mangoes on the tree. I think it will also
affect the taste of mango.”
This deviated Jo’s attention. Long sentences always deviate Jo’s attention.
“Will it make the taste worse or better?” - Jo asked now.
“I don’t care. I always like mango as long as they are sweet. What do you think will it make it worse or better?” - Mo replied and asked.
“I will have to see. I will eat one mango from a tree with pesticide and one without pesticide and then
decide.”
“Why did you ask me then?”
“I just wanted to know if you have a concept of taste or not. Apparently, you don’t.”
“What makes you think you have a taste. All you said is you will do an experiment and find out. That is no concept of taste.” - Mo seemed irritated.
“Apparently, you are right. But the difference is that I know that I don’t know the concept of taste and also I could answer my question.”
“Then why ask me?”
“To test your knowledge and find out if there is something for myself to learn.”
“So did you learn anything?”
“Yes, I did. That you don’t care about taste when it comes to mango at least. I don’t know if you have
tastes in other matters. I also learn that you ask too many questions. Now, be silent and let me watch the TV.”
“Why can’t we eat mangoes?”
“Because those mangoes grow in a field far away from here. Now stop asking questions and go to
kitchen if you are hungry.”
Jo continued watching TV and Mo went to the kitchen store to see if there were any mangoes in house.
